Moodle is an Open Source Course Management System (CMS) and has become very popular among educators and consultants around the world as a tool for creating online dynamic web sites supporting teaching / professional training / skill development/ communities of practice.

  • Today  Moodle is used by 65 million registered users and is available in 70 languages. Moodle manages more than 7 million courses  in 230 countries in about 75,000 registered sites. 
  • Moodle was planned and developed on the basis of a philosophy that seeks to combine up-to-date training methodologies with collaborative  IT tools.
  • The guiding philosophy of the environment is to support a real cognitive and collaborative alliance between people who bring different experiences and skills and to recreate "online" a real "learning community".
  • Many institutions and firms use Moodle to conduct fully online courses, while some use it simply to augment face-to-face courses (known as blended learning).
